Plane spotting in Denmark: what you should know

Copenhagen-Kastrup is an important hub for SAS and for Scandinavian air traffic as a whole. The airport sits right on the water, which makes shots with the Øresund in the background possible. Billund is the country’s second-largest airport.

Photography from publicly accessible areas is allowed. On observation decks, in terminals and in parking garages, the operator’s house rules apply, and the security area is off-limits.

The wind on the Øresund changes often and strongly. Check the wind direction and current runway use before you go, because that determines which side of the airport works.

Spotting points at the fence

Designated or tolerated spots at the airport fence, some with photo openings. Close to taxiways and runways, but without facilities – and always only from outside the security area.

Aviation museums & exhibitions

Museums and exhibitions with historic and retired aircraft. Weather-proof, easy to plan and a chance to see types up close that stopped flying long ago.
