Plane spotting in the Czech Republic: what you should know

Air traffic in the Czech Republic is concentrated almost entirely in Prague. There you’ll find European traffic, leisure airlines and a few long-haul routes; the country’s other airports are much smaller.

Photography from publicly accessible areas is allowed. On observation decks, in terminals and in parking garages, the operator’s house rules apply, and the security area is off-limits.

Movement numbers are more moderate than at the major hubs. On the other hand, Prague is easy to combine with other airports in Central Europe on a trip over several days.

Spotting hills & viewpoints

Artificial mounds and elevated viewpoints at the edge of the airport grounds. You shoot over the fence and have a clear view of runways and taxiways.

Aviation museums & exhibitions

Museums and exhibitions with historic and retired aircraft. Weather-proof, easy to plan and a chance to see types up close that stopped flying long ago.
